Vita Membership Requirements
VITA membership requirements
As mentioned at our General membership meeting
In the past, Maui Raceway Park has been maintained by mainly Board Members and a small core of Members. At one point it was maintained solely by our club President. With the size and demands of running our club growing every year, these people can’t do everything anymore. As a board we were faced with two options. One, get our Average of 180 members to be active at their track. Or Two, raise prices and have contractors maintain the facility. In these tough economic times we felt its time that the members of VITA band together to get the job done. If not, we have no choice but move to option two.
Unfortunately, without setting some type of requirements or penalties, members would abuse the system as done in the past and the same group of individuals will end up performing all the work.
VITA club members are required to perform one day of club/work activity at Maui Raceway Park to retain their membership status going into the following season. Members can perform different types of duties to get credit for their club activity. Here’s a list of possible duties
Work days (Yard detail, Track scrapping, general maintenance)
Pre Race (Track washing, track set up, Towing of light towers)
Race Days (Working various track positions)
Post Race (Track tear down, equipment storage, Towing of light towers)
Penalties for not completing duties:
1. Members will lose all points earned for the season
2. Members will lose the right to renew their membership for the following season With that penalty imposed, penalized members will not be allowed to renew their pit stalls or compete for 2013 points championships
3. Penalized members will pay non-member fees.
Life Time and Off Island Members
In some cases, members may not be able to make any club work days due to unforeseen reasons. There will be a buyout option of $250.00. Monies from the buyout option will be used toward track maintenance or for paying others to perform your duties.
In order for us to maintain our facility for the entire year, members need to be placed on a work roster to insure coverage. Members will have ample opportunity to find a day that meets their schedule. Members should contact our scheduling coordinator, Director Shayne Yamashita @ 385-8090 to sign up for a work day.
