VITA has changed the date for our Street car shootout to October 6, 2007. The change of date will allow us as well as racer more time to prepare for this event. VITA appologizes for the change in date.
Here's some of the classes for the event.
FWD Q16 - Bracket
RWD Q16 - Bracket
Bikes Bracket
Steet legal - Bracket
Outlaw Street Q8 - Heads up
Rules for each class will be posted ASAP. A classic car class is also being looked at for this event as well.

Mark: This event is outside our regular schedule and rules, so can a car be raced in more than one class? After all, a really quick fwd should make the quick 8. Also, I think there should be more than one "all run" class.

Seems like this day will have alot of classes. VITA may need 2 days to run it......just my thoughts, aloha SM.

We currently run 7 classes on our Saturday night program. I don't think getting 5 done will be a problem.

my thoughts...
i dont know how many college students race, but it would be nice to be able to race in this next year.. i was looking forward to it being in september since i'm on a trimester schedule(late sept.-mid june).. now i'm bummed that it moved to october.. i've been waiting for the shootout since i participated in last years one..
another thing, you folks should have an all motor class.. from what i remember at last years event, the top 2 cars ran away from everybody else and they were supercharged.. and everyone knows it would be an exciting class..

Hogan,
Sorry about the date change, Originally we wanted the event in September but a MMA fight was also on tap for that same night. As you may know with the popularity of MMA fighting here on Maui this would be a hard event to compete with. Not to mention a few of our racer are slated to compete on that fight card. VITA also wanted to take advantage of the new ferry system allowing Oahu's racers the opportunity to come over and compete. With this being said we felt for the betterment of our club the change of date was necessary.
All motor class- The class is a great idea but Maui does not have enough cars for us to break it down anymore. Maybe with the ferry starting and the support of the outer islands, next year we could offer more classes. Mark

What was the slowest time last year? And whats the answer to John's question about running multiple classes. Like Street legal and RWD Q16?

Instead of worrying about who will show up, VITA should be pro-active in the way it presents and pulls off the show. No matter what, if your'e going to the races, your'e going to the races......If your'e going to MMA, your'e going to MMA. Just concentrate on the fundamentals of the show itself and establish a program that not only will be beneficial to the association but will be beneficial to racing in general. Just my thoughts.....Aloha..M89

Last years #16 qualifier ran a 12.60 or something. But due to breakage many alternates were allowed to move up.
In response to John's question, racers will be allowed to run in two classes but it has to be in diffferent cars. FYI all non Q16 qualifiers will be allowed to run in the street legal class. So if you don't make the Q16 there is still a place to run.

I wish we were in a position to do that. But financially we can't. Please keep in mind VITA is a non profit club trying to survive.

Hogan, I dont have it . I only save the print outs from our points races. I remember Martin ran the quickest @ 10.30, then it jumped to somewhere around 10.90 from 2 to 5. There also was a bunch around high 11 to low 12 range. Mark.
