We have completed the first "Ke Koa Hao - Iron Warrior Off Road Championship." I just want to take a moment to say thank you to everyone who raced, helped, showed up, organized and took part in this event.
It was the first and a learning experience for all. While there was some confusion at the end, it was worked out. We will be working on the communication portion of the event and that is always important in motorsports.
Many of you came and talked after the event with some suggestions about the scoring [making it a bracket lineup]; getting the information to racers and crews by having a board in the pit with each round of racing listing who would be racing who and when; another suggestions was to make the event into three classes, American, Import, and Dune Buggy. There were suggestions about drivers meetings, equipment, racing attire, rock sizes and more. Once we get all of this information written down we will be putting it out so you can make comments and input.
There will be a HMRA newsletter made and it will be available at many of the auto part stores and auto shops. We will also be holding meetings and getting your input there as well.
We will be posting more information about the future Ke Koa Hao races set up for 2006, as for the drag racers, we have not forgotten you. I will be on the mainland this week and one of my main goals will to try and find a national drag racing sanctioning body to comply with the rules of the county so that we can hold drag races.
Again, Mahalo everyone!
