The “Ke Koa Hao - Iron Warrior” event on October 29 & 30th to be held in Hilo, is being promoted by HMRA - Hawaii Motorsports Racers Association, and is similar to what is run on the mainland and called “Tough Truck”, "Tuff Truck" or “Arena Racing.” This is an off road type competition for 4x4 trucks and dune buggies competing in three events at the Hilo Stock Car Oval.
THE EVENTS ARE:
ARENA RACING [Event #1] : This is with two vehicles racing each other over an obstacle course which will have rocks and crushed cars. Both racers start opposite of each other and go in the same direction. First back to the finish line is the winner.
ROCK PILE [Event #2] : This is a timed run over a rock pile. The fastest wins, simple as that.
STEEL RAMP [Event #3] : This a steel ramp of 22 degrees. You go up the ramp with either your left side tires or right. The one that goes the highest without falling off is the winner. Once you lift one tire, your efforts are over.
The first race of the Ke Koa Hao - Iron Warrior is on October 29 & 30th at the Hilo Stock Car Oval. Contact Conrad Kaleohano, Race Director @ 960-6895 or Ed Douglas, HMRA President @ 895-1676 for more info or questions.
But that’s not all, besides the "Ke Koa Hao - Iron Warrior" event will be the Budweiser Beauties of Hawaii Bikini Contest. It will be held on both Saturday and Sunday.
If that’s not enough, the event will also be a time to have some fun, be creative and help a keiki. We will be holding a "Trick'd BBQ Contest" coordinated by the Harry Kerr Foundation. The keiki is Kelsie Chang, daughter of Kelly Chang who passed away recently.
The funds raised will be used to support her future education.
The contest is to take a BBQ grill, either gas or charcoal, and trick it out to look like a car, truck, motorcycle or an engine. It must also be a working BBQ grill. That's it, the winner will be determined by people's choice voting and will be held on Saturday, October 29th, at the "Ke Koa Hao - Iron Warrior" event. Contact Ed Douglas at 895-1676 for more information on this “fun”raiser.
