The imports were out in full force this weekend with the Sports
Compact Turbo and the All Motor Bracket classes. The domestic
bracket racing was held on Sunday as was the Nakamura sisters from
Oahu in their Jr. Dragsters. Darren Watanabe made a pass in his new
Alcohol Dragster and laid down the fastest and quickest run of the
weekend with a 7.42 second 179 mph pass.

My seventh year in a row for this yearly 3 day event. Good weather brought lots
of non stop action from blown 7 second dragsters and door slammers to the newest
class of racers this year in their jr. dragsters. Maui Classic Cruisers were on
hand Sunday making a cruise in a parade up and down the the strip for every one
to see. Some repeat winners and some new ones brought the weekends biggest race
in memory of George "Fintstone Andrade to an end. Their are close to 900 photos
here on 12 seperate pages in the order I took them.

My last time to Maui was for last years Season Finals in November that ended up
as a rain out and cancelled. The 2004 March event started out great on Friday
night but at about 11 pm was stopped because of persistent light rain. Racing
resumed the following day early Saturday afternoon to finish up Friday nights
eliminations, test and tune and the Jr. dragsters made some passes also. Just
when Saturdays program began to get going at around 6pm the rain came in and
although the track did dry briefly it appeared it was not gonna let up the rest
of the night. So the call was made to cancel Saturday nights event. This album

It's been 3 years since the Alaska racers have been over here for what used to
be a yearly event and it was a real treat to have them back. Their are over 450

This yearly event was first scheduled for January 31 but was cancelled because
of the rain. The weather cooperated for the new date about two weeks later. This
years Ohana Race was set up to help local racer Ron Dugan with his medical bills.
Sundays event included 74 entries in competition. Their are 100 photos here from

Wow, what a great weekend of drag racing. Rain around midnight Friday put a hold
on the action but we got a full night on Saturday that went into Sunday morning
till around 3 am and then all day on Sunday. Tom Brown went up against Myles Togioka
in the Top Gun Final and Tom came out the winner. Both Tom and Myles made personal
best runs down the quarter mile this weekend. The 5 second Big Island Thunder Funny
Car with owner-driver Mike Bell made a record run on Sunday of a 6.04 and 228 mph.
This is a new record for E.T. and MPH at Hawaii Raceway Park by a local Hawaii
Resident. Their are over 500 photos included here from Friday through Sunday.

The Season Opener didn't start out like we all would want. Heavy showers here on
the Big Island put a hold on anything going down the track at the Hilo dragstrip.
Sunday turned out just great with some sun to dry things out. So it was a full
